Crown land assembly for major development projects is a key focus for the Department of Lands.

As steward of the State's Crown land estate, the department delivers land use and management solutions, while providing the foundation for a substantial number of economic, social and cultural development projects, worth billions of dollars to the State's economy.

In order to effectively facilitate these outcomes, the department created a specialised Major Projects Team to provide expert land tenure advice to support major regional resource projects in Western Australia.  The majority of these projects include land assembly for the creation of strategic industrial areas, new ports and port expansions, as well as road, rail and associated infrastructure to support these activities.

The resources sector is a major client of the department with land identification, clearances and assembly activity conducted for key projects in partnership with a number of agencies, including the Department of State Development (DSD), the Department of Regional Development and the Department of the Premier and Cabinet.
